Our Goal

OUR GOAL

To provide a unique environment where folks who have experienced trauma can openly and safely talk. We strive to respect, validate, and learn from each other.

ACHIEVING OUR GOAL

Achieving our goal requires cooperative collaboration amongst members and staff. Members posts remain appropriate and relevant to topics. Terms of Service are clearly posted to help members maintain the dignity of the board. Members of this group are at a stage in their healing to independently regulate their own behavior, as well as keeping themselves safe while on the forums. Staff regularly monitor posts and replies to ensure the board remains a safe and comfortable environment of learning for everyone.

As a friendly and kind community, we validate each other as equally special and significant.

These forums are active and the community not too large or too small - about 400 post per day. There are many forums on different topics. The topics range in subject matter also. You are welcome to interact as you feel comfortable.

This is a safe place for members. We encourage building coping skills, learning from each other and material shared. We discourage sharing explicit memories of past abuse. We feel that processing memories be done with professionals. There are no practicing therapists on these forums. Therefore, topics that call for therapist type responses are discouraged.

Feel free to look around. Realize that, as a guest, your view of the forums is minimal. These forums are otherwise private to the public view and/or search engines.

We have literally hundreds of articles and provide workshops for everyone. Please feel free to email me anytime with questions. I am also providing a tutorial that should help with navigating our site.

The very best to you,

KATE WHITE  ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF HER NEW MUSIC VIDEO SIX FEET DOWN
AND SUPPORT OF UPCOMING 2015 INT’L TRAUMA & DISSOCIATION CONFERENCE

October 16th, 2015 (Seattle, WA)—The Kate White Band will be playing at the 2015 Int’l Trauma & Dissociation Conference Friday night, 8-10pm in the NW Ballroom at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Seattle Airport, 18740 International Blvd, Seattle, WA.  As a trauma survivor  Kate began songwriting as a way to help process her own healing journey. Now she wants to help others walk that same road.  Kate’s recent CD release, Six Feet Down, along with her new music video of the title track (which just dropped last week) has synthesized her deeper understanding of trauma with lyrics and music that help give a voice to the voiceless, and strength for the journey.

Released under the Responding Records Label, Six Feet Down is sure to be her best album to date. Rooted in her own story, this album authentically covers deeper struggles of life, yet lifts to a hopeful conclusion.  Her sound is best described as organic, refined folk inspired... Ambient and rich. There is an Allison Krauss / Robert Plant 'Rising Sands' vibe with some Civil Wars mixed in.

What Kate says about Six Feet Down, “The message of this project weaves through the deeper brokenness of our lives and gives a voice to subjects that music often dances around but never fully addresses.  The beauty of it is it's specific and illusive at the same time.  It calls you out if you've lied and cheated your way through life, yet it gives you a voice if you've never been heard.  It’s my prayer that this CD will give hope to those who are on both sides of an offense and strengthen all of us to move toward truth and wholeness.”

In addition to your typical venues, the Kate White Band has played extensively in prisons, shelters, addiction recovery groups, youth detention facilities, DV shelters and partnered with organizations such as IGDID to help bring hope to the hurting.  Current members include Kate White (violin, lead vocals), Blair Borland (acoustic guitar, vocals) Rebecca Loomis (violin, keys, vocals), Scott Minter (mandolin, mandola, tenor banjo, low D whistle, harmonica), Aaron Fishburn (upright bass) and Luke Peterson (drums, percussion).

Kate White is a Recording Artist, Speaker, Worship Leader, Songwriter and Violinist out of Vancouver, WA.  She tours regionally with her band and nationally as a solo artist and speaker.  Kate is the founder of Music That Matters, an organization dedicated to bringing hope to the hurting.

She is great and Dr. Loewenstein - Blues Band will also be performing.

We are getting ready for everything - it is never too late. We are trying to work it out so everyone who wants to go can.
