Our Goal

OUR GOAL

To provide a unique environment where folks who have experienced trauma can openly and safely talk. We strive to respect, validate, and learn from each other.

ACHIEVING OUR GOAL

Achieving our goal requires cooperative collaboration amongst members and staff. Members posts remain appropriate and relevant to topics. Terms of Service are clearly posted to help members maintain the dignity of the board. Members of this group are at a stage in their healing to independently regulate their own behavior, as well as keeping themselves safe while on the forums. Staff regularly monitor posts and replies to ensure the board remains a safe and comfortable environment of learning for everyone.

As a friendly and kind community, we validate each other as equally special and significant.

These forums are active and the community not too large or too small - about 400 post per day. There are many forums on different topics. The topics range in subject matter also. You are welcome to interact as you feel comfortable.

This is a safe place for members. We encourage building coping skills, learning from each other and material shared. We discourage sharing explicit memories of past abuse. We feel that processing memories be done with professionals. There are no practicing therapists on these forums. Therefore, topics that call for therapist type responses are discouraged.

Feel free to look around. Realize that, as a guest, your view of the forums is minimal. These forums are otherwise private to the public view and/or search engines.

We have literally hundreds of articles and provide workshops for everyone. Please feel free to email me anytime with questions. I am also providing a tutorial that should help with navigating our site.

2016 Trauma and Dissociation Conference - Some updates


We are about a month away from the conference. www.igdid.org for more information.

The programs are nearly done and ready to go. Therefore, the schedules are intact. The programs are within binders this year. So, everyone will have a three-ring binder to keep their handouts, etc. Within the binders will be pertinent information about speakers, schedules, a personal planner for you, and other information about Seattle, the conference, etc. We hope that everyone will find this useful. We provide you with paper, pens, colored pencils and color sheets which you can also put in the binders. They are quite attractive also.

Lanyards and name tags are done and very nice. We are also working hard to make beaded landyards, bracelets, and necklaces.

We will again have handmade and paper grab bags available as well as surprise items for attendees.

At this time, about 130 people have already registered - about half are clinicians and half survivors. I wanted to get this update out there, because seats are limited. As much as I would love to see this conference 'sell out', I want to make sure that anyone planning to come is aware that the venue does not have room for anymore than 200 attendees. And, guest rooms are also limited - so, if you have registered, please book your room as soon as possible. I cannot predict how many people plan to register, but can say that we are getting about 4 a day right now, which is much different than previous years where people kind of waited for the last couple of weeks to register.

We are working closely with the hotel - the Radisson in Seattle - near the airport. They are amazing and accommodating. We can say now, for certain, that we will be able to accommodate everyone on Thursday Oct. 6th - the day before the conference begins - for meeting and preregistration most of the day and into the evening. So, if you are registered or want to register there, please stop by - parking is free and everyone is welcome.

We will be setting up AV and exhibit tables on Thursday afternoon and evening. We will have about 12 exhibit table so far. There are many amenities at this hotel - see the website link I posted above. All who register for the conference have access to these.

If you are arriving by plane, the hotel is within walking distance - it is easier to walk than getting to the shuttle, unless you prefer the shuttle. Just walk through the terminal east and out to the sidewalk. You will see the hotel right there across the crosswalk.

Clearly, we will pretty much have the entire hotel to ourself. There are no other conferences happening and our group has booked a good portion of the guest rooms.

This is going to be an amazing conference that you do not want to miss.
