Our Goal

OUR GOAL

To provide a unique environment where folks who have experienced trauma can openly and safely talk. We strive to respect, validate, and learn from each other.

ACHIEVING OUR GOAL

Achieving our goal requires cooperative collaboration amongst members and staff. Members posts remain appropriate and relevant to topics. Terms of Service are clearly posted to help members maintain the dignity of the board. Members of this group are at a stage in their healing to independently regulate their own behavior, as well as keeping themselves safe while on the forums. Staff regularly monitor posts and replies to ensure the board remains a safe and comfortable environment of learning for everyone.

As a friendly and kind community, we validate each other as equally special and significant.

These forums are active and the community not too large or too small - about 400 post per day. There are many forums on different topics. The topics range in subject matter also. You are welcome to interact as you feel comfortable.

This is a safe place for members. We encourage building coping skills, learning from each other and material shared. We discourage sharing explicit memories of past abuse. We feel that processing memories be done with professionals. There are no practicing therapists on these forums. Therefore, topics that call for therapist type responses are discouraged.

Feel free to look around. Realize that, as a guest, your view of the forums is minimal. These forums are otherwise private to the public view and/or search engines.

We have literally hundreds of articles and provide workshops for everyone. Please feel free to email me anytime with questions. I am also providing a tutorial that should help with navigating our site.

The very best to you,

Thoughts on webinars

Post by felicity on 2/23/2018, 3:31 pm

Ivory Garden has been hosting conferences for the past 5 years. We do love the conferences, and they are tons of work.

So, yesterday I discovered that the brand new website I created for our Anchorage conference had some 5,600 unique view in ONE MONTH - last month. That is truly amazing for any website!!! And, one of our other sites got a bit over 6,000 unique views in the past 3 months - the igdid.org conference site.

These are simply amazing statistics for any website!! I really had no idea - because, I spend so much time building and keeping them up, I never took the time to look.

Our b of d where talking and wondering what else we could do for folks that would be helpful - especially for those who can't make it to the conferences. Our first thought was to offer webinars - similar to the workshops that we have at the conferences. We do have the webinar rooms, speakers, CEU's available, etc. to do this.

I wanted to put this out there to those who do read - and ask for your input. You can answer here or write me at felcicity4us2@gmail.com.

We could also use anyone who would like to help - like volunteer.

Why a pw - no, you can just look - close that - don't pay attention to it - you don't have to have an account. Try again - okay?

There is so much need for Good, Correct, Reputable and well researched information on trauma, dissociation, as well as other MH topics. And so many MH diagnosis come from trauma that no one even touches on. I think we could certainly benefit educating the entire MH community with webinars. I also think people (like those who come from our forum) enjoy meeting in person. Perhaps we could do a few webinars a year to help pay for the "in person" yearly conference? There are many topics to choose from and we could also do webinars for all types of "audiences". I, myself, having worked on each of the conferences with Felicity know how much time, work, and money goes into each and every conference and how important it is to make the conference an excellent, educational and professional conference for all involved. So, I would be very willing to volunteer my time with holding the webinars and perhaps finding "guest" speakers to be on them. These are also things I have done on the "in person" conferences, thus, something I feel could be a little easier for me to do since I'm "kinda" used to it. It would be great to get ideas from people about subjects or topics they would like to have webinars (the paid webinars) about and if they would like the webinars to be like the "in person" webinars, where ALL are included or if they would like some to be made more for "professionals" and others to be more for the lay person or survivor. If anyone has any thoughts on these, please let us know. Thanks

@Aniken5er

Okay, I didn't see your post - was posting the same time you did.

I can't say for sure - it mostly depends on how the Anchorage conference goes. I am trying to promote it as much as we can - it should help finance another conference - hopefully.

omg - manysunshine - if you look at the time - we posted over each other - I didn't even see your post until now - sheesh. Hate when that happens.

So, yes - you are correct. One thing that I hate is that folks who are far away want us to record the conference workshops and plenaries, but really, the speakers will come here for webinars - and, then you all can be right here.

And, like she said, we can give webinars anytime and offer CEU's also.

The reason we have not really done any of this is that it is also a huge amount of work. If there is little interest, it simply won't happen.

We are so very different than any other group, because we ask for a small donation and offer so very much - because we want to help and support. We don't cause anyone to feel pressured or to have loyalty to us - none of that.

But, we all do work very hard - and, if there isn't interest, we won't provide - make sense? Right - of course it does.

I just about fall out of my chair when someone like Manysunshine, who - btw - is amazingly talented and well qualified - offers something like this - on an open forum even - and, there are so few people jumping on this opportunity.

Are people just not understanding what she is offering? I am not sure, but if you have questions or need clarification, please just post your questions or email us.

If it seems like we don't offer all that we could, it is simple - if you want something - ask for it - if you need something - reach out - we are here for the purpose of providing what 'YOU ALL' need and want - not what makes IG more popular (whatever).

Thanks - and ty manysunshine - you rock

I know, when we try to post at the exact same time, we miss the one before - it's okay - we can wait for you to catch up - Or not - they are all there - I just posted around manysunshine - like I didn't even know it was there - how very rude of me - just kidding.
